5 REASONS FOR A CONCRETE PLANT WITH THE “FLYING” AGGREGATE DOSING SYSTEM

Written by Janne Tuomikko | October 31, 2017

A “flying” aggregate dosing and weighing system provides more benefits than any other aggregate feeding system used in concrete batching plants. In this blog, we will discuss the five main benefits of this advanced solution for concrete production.

1. Higher accuracy saves cement

The innovative “flying” aggregate weighing and dosing system can dose and weigh aggregates with an accuracy down to 5 kg (12 lbs).

Normally, inaccurate aggregate dosing is compensated for by adding extra cement to the mix to reach the target concrete strength. With the “flying” system, the dosing accuracy is improved tremendously – and any additional dosage of cement can be avoided. As a result, the savings of cement may reach 20 or even 30 kg per cubic meter (33–50 lbs/cubic yard).

2. Lower aggregate bin height saves space and costs

Thanks to the “flying” aggregate dosing and weighing system, the height of the aggregate bin loading edge is approximately 3–5 m (3.3–5.5 yd) lower than that of conventional concrete batching plants.

The lower height of the loading edge results in a lower loading ramp. This leads to measurable savings in loader fuel and operational costs. Bin volume remains the same, but the space needed for the plant and the loading ramp is significantly smaller. This is especially beneficial if the plant requires a small footprint in a city center.

3. Reduced CO2 emissions for a smaller carbon footprint

The cement manufacturing process produces high CO2 emissions to the atmosphere. The “flying” aggregate dosing and weighing system allows you to use less cement and so helps reduce CO2 emissions.

However, concrete producers can support their sustainability commitments not only by saving cement. Another “green” aspect of the “flying” system is that the motor of its belt conveyor needs 2–4 times less power than a conventional mobile or central mix concrete plant. Plus, due to the lower aggregate bin, unit conveyors to load the bins are not required.

As a result, plants equipped with the “flying” aggregate dosing and weighing system save a significant amount of gasoil and electricity. Respectively, CO2 emissions are cut, too.

4. Modular plant concept for fast installation and relocation

Tecwill concrete batching plants have a modular construction based on sea container measurements and are very mobile. And with plug-and-play connectors, the electric connection is easy, too.

Therefore, these mobile plants are very fast to install. And after the project is finished, they can be moved to a new location and reinstalled easily. In this way, production can start again in a very short time.

5. Pre-installed insulation for efficient operation even in winter

All winter equipment of Tecwill concrete mixing plants is installed, pre-wired and tested at the factory. It also does not need to be disassembled for relocation. This includes housing the modules as well as additional devices, pipes and cables inside the modules.

If the plant is well equipped for production under harsh winter conditions, no additional time for winterizing the plant is required.

Summary

These are only some of the benefits of the innovative “flying” aggregate dosing and weighing system. It is clearly the perfect solution for any on-site or central mix concrete batching plant. At Tecwill, the system is integral in its Cobra and Arcamix plants.
